Summary:
The work schedule for this position is Full Time (40 hours per week).
Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.
Basic Function of the Position – Incumbent provides required economic analysis to Political/Economic Section Chief, junior officers, and to the Principal Officer at Consulate Peshawar, and other USG entities on economic issues in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Acts as consulate liaison to highest ranks of Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (e.g. Finance Minister, Senior Minister, and members of the provincial assembly) and economic and business contacts throughout the province. Develops contacts in the business community and serves as post institutional knowledge for Consulate Peshawar’s economic engagement. Plans, organizes, and administers outreach programming on behalf of the consulate. The incumbent must operate with significant autonomy, and exercise excellent professional judgement as the positions American supervisor is often not available for immediate consultation on projects and decisions. Due to the geographic separation, incumbent also frequently interacts directly with the Consul General and high-level consulate contacts when the American supervisor is in Islamabad. The incumbent will also work as back up to the Pol Assistant position.

Qualifications and Evaluations
Requirements:
EXPERIENCE: Five years of progressively responsible experience in analytical or substantive work in the field of government, business, or economics including university or academic work in either field is required.
JOB KNOWLEDGE: Must have strong background in economic issues, with emphasis on analytical knowledge. Detail and extensive knowledge of Pakistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa political history, economy, government, society, and personalities is required. Must have strong knowledge of U.S. Government and society, with emphasis on foreign policy and economic conditions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Education Requirements:
Completion of University Degree (16 years of education) in Political Science, Economics, Business, History, or Law is required.
Evaluations:
LANGUAGE: Level IV (fluent) Reading/Writing/Speaking of English, Urdu, and Pashto is required. English and Pashto language skills will be tested.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must have skill at economic and social analysis, with emphasis on relations to U.S. Government interests and objectives. Ability to anticipate and understand nascent issues and developments in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and their effect on U.S. Government interests is required. Ability to mix well at the highest levels of society, and to cultivate a broad range of contacts is also required. Must have skill at acting as a liaison to the highest ranks of the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, businesses, and economic contacts. Skills and abilities may be tested.
Qualifications:
